    CALL FOR EDITORS

AFTER THE SCIENCES OF THE ARTIFICIAL

    50TH Anniversary of Herbert A. Simon's Work

    XXVII volume of

Praxiology:The International Annual of Practical Philosophy and Methodology

    Submission Deadline: March 1st, 2018

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first edition of Herbert A. Simon's The Sciences of the Artificial (1969, MIT), Praxiology: The International Annual of Practical Philosophy and Methodology, published by Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group), intends to edit a commemorating collection of essays. To this end, we are currently seeking for a guest editor (or editors) who will take responsibility for this much-needed volume.

The work of Simon, a Nobel-winning author, can be considered as formative and ground-breaking for many research fields–from economics through cognitive and information science to philosophy. The 50th anniversary of the first edition of The Sciences of the Artificial creates a great opportunity to recapitulate main Simon's ideas and estimate their current significance and prospects for future study. The volume may address the very idea of "the science of the artificial" introduced in the 1969 book as well its connections with such key questions as 'bounded rationality' or 'satisficing' which are known from Simon's earlier works (1947, 1957).

Expressions of interest from researchers working in the areas of management science, economics, psychology, decision theory, cognitive science, philosophy of mind, philosophy of action and methodology are welcomed.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

w  Decision about the editorial strategy for the volume.

w  Corresponding with authors and the publisher.

w  Recruiting and corresponding with peer-reviewers.

w  Making decisions about the publication of submitted manuscripts.

w  Editing accepted manuscripts (promoting readability, consistency and compliance with formal requirements).

The collection will be published in 2019 or early 2020 as the 27th volume of the series.

Enquiries and expressions of interest should be sent to Piotr Tomasz Makowski (the editor-in-chief of the annual): makowski@amu.edu.pl or pmakowski@wz.uw.edu.pl.

We hope to make our decision about the editorship in March 2018.

    SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SERIES

w  Guest editors decide about the amount and length of submissions for a volume. Default option is 7000-10000 words (including references and endnotes) per submission. Manuscripts should be double spaced, sent in .doc, .docx, or .rtf file.

w  Essays are usually anonymously peer-reviewed by the authors of other submissions. Contributors who decide to submit their essay accept to act as peer-reviewers (one review per one submission).

w  The authors' names should not appear in the manuscript. The title of the article and other identifying information (name, address, telephone and e-mail address) must be attached as an additional cover page.

w  References should be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.

w  The Praxiology series accepts submissions using MLA, APA or Chicago citation styles (other styles are not accepted).

w  Manuscripts should be submitted by e-mail to guest editors named in the CFPs of the Annual or to: praxiology.routledge@gmail.com.

w  Informal enquiries relating to the volume, proposed topics and potential fit with objectives of a volume are usually welcomed from authors. Guest editors respond to any questions.

w  According to the practice established in the annual, guest editors ask for abstracts and brief biographical notes after the decision of acceptance (typically within 4-6 weeks).
