The relationship between scholars and practitioners has long been an interest of the Academy of Management. This scholar-practitioner relationship manifests in two ways. The first is the relationship between scholars as researchers and practitioners as their clients and sometimes collaborators. The second manifestation is not a relationship between the two as distinct persons. Rather it is the two parts as aspects of the same person. The purpose of this symposium is to gain perspectives from scholars and practitioners on critical elements needed in building a model of graduate education for scholar-practitioners as change leaders. Panelists will address questions about the definition of scholar- practitioner change leader, what are the mindsets and skill sets needed to produce capable scholar-practitioners for change leadership, what types of students seek graduate degrees in this area, what elements need to be included in the model for this education in change leadership, and what are the career options for such change leaders.
