    ***Apologies for cross postings***

The Academy of Management community is an excellent way to connect with other full-time business faculty members.  Collectively, we are the people responsible for teaching tomorrow's business leaders by transferring our knowledge to our students.  This process can be a very rewarding one; it can also be challenging in many ways.

My colleagues, Dr. Suzanne Conner and Dr. Ken Rossi, and I are investigating the impact of student incivility on faculty job related outcomes.  For example:

    • Do your students behave in ways that make you question your teaching abilities?
    • Do your students behave in ways that take a toll on your mental well-being?
    • Have you thought about leaving academia as a result of student behavior?
    • Does student behavior impact your ability to be an effective faculty member in other areas?

We created an online survey to help us investigate these areas.  Our survey will take about 20-25 minutes of your time.  However, most participants in our pilot study finished the survey in 20 minutes or less.  We know how precious your time is at this point in the academic year, but we would greatly appreciate your participation.

If you meet our sample demographic, we want to hear from you! We are looking for participants who are:

    • Employed as a full – time faculty member in a college/school of business
    • At least 18 years of age
    • Faculty members teaching in any area of business are encouraged to participate
    • Colleagues meeting these qualifications who are located outside of the United States are also encouraged to participate

We would also appreciate it if you forward our survey link to others who may meet our sample demographic.

Our survey has been approved by the IRB at both Hawaii Pacific University and Georgia Southwestern State University.  The informed consent information is presented first when the survey begins.

My colleagues and I truly appreciate your consideration in participating in our research study.  If you have any questions, please feel free to send me an email at lgibson@hpu.edu. I am happy to discuss the study with you.

Thank you for your consideration and time.
