Description: This PDW will explore the fundamental nature of experience in ODC practice by collectively examining the vignettes of several PHD students from Myanmar, Thailand and China. Business organizations are increasingly interested in how to frame problems as opportunities. For instance, a traditional approach to OD project starts with 'the presenting problem' while an appreciative inquiry approaches prefer to view experience as 'witnessing a miracle.' Through the cases presented in this PDW, we will explore how various schools of psychology view awareness of experience to frame problems as opportunities, for example, as an issue of figure and ground, anomalies, a 'blink', or a return with a difference. Examining these vignettes will help us to better understand the wellspring of ODC practice.

The purpose of the PDW is to explore the student's root experience which forms the basis of their dissertation research.   Each student tell their presenting case study and dig more deeply into the experience.  What is the primary experience behind our quest to understand the situation?   This is where we start...  (where am I and) what is happening?  How can we see things as they 'really are'?
