    THE HUMAN AND ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND OUR FACULTY

    The Human and Organizational Development Program is a multidisciplinary program that offers two degrees: the PhD in Human Development and PhD in Organizational Development and Change. Our faculty teach and mentor students in both programs. This faculty position has an emphasis in Human Development teaching, practice, and scholarship.

    HOD core faculty members are expected to engage in three general areas of effort: to provide mentoring and educational experiences for students; to be productive in scholarship and practice; and to engage in governance and service to the School of Leadership Studies (SLS) and Fielding Graduate University. 

    Faculty members supervise doctoral dissertations, teach course seminars that mix synchronous and asynchronous interactions, and offer in-person seminars at one residential event per yea,r and sometimes at smaller regional events. Faculty members also conduct regular meetings (via Zoom) with students individually and with groups.

    Faculty areas of effort include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities:

    • Engage in collaborative education for self-directed adult learners.
    • Assess students' academic performance to achieve educational, personal, and professional development goals.
    • Support students through individualized academic and professional feedback to strengthen doctoral-level knowledge and skills.
    • Remain productive in scholarship and practice to better serve students.
    • Engage in professional service to the HOD Programs and Fielding Graduate University that contributes to student achievement.
    • Engage in community, social, and organizational change action within the HOD Programs, Fielding, and in larger societal contexts.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    We seek scholar-practitioners who are at least three-years post doctorate from an accredited institution; have taught at the doctoral level and supervised doctoral dissertations; and have an active research program with a record of research/scholarly publications. Candidates who wish to be considered for this doctoral faculty position must be able to show proof of the right to work in the U.S.

    This faculty position has an emphasis in Human Development teaching, practice, and scholarship. Examples of earned doctorates could be in the fields of psychology, human development, sociology, education, anthropology, leadership, coaching, communication, or a related field. Degrees in organization studies and organizational development will also be considered, with knowledge and experience in human development.

    We are particularly interested in applicants with successful teaching, research or scholarship, and applied work in the areas of social equity and ecological justice. Special consideration will be given to those applicants who have demonstrated research and publication expertise that explore the intersections  of Human Development in any of the following areas: Women/Gender Studies, Cultural/ Ethnic Studies, Humanistic Aging, Consciousness Studies, Leadership Studies and Coaching. We value a range of methodologies including qualitative, interpretative/critical, mixed methods and/or quantitative methods. Preferred candidates will also have had graduate teaching experience in research methodologies and have published in peer-reviewed publications.
