Calling all researchers into organizational development and change!

Are you currently working on - or just want to know more about - how to study relational aspects of organizational change?  D<w:sdt sdttag="goog_rdk_6" id="2109153595"></w:sdt>o you want to discuss the challenges in how to make relationships visible in your work with a panel of change researchers, who use a range of different methods to study relational aspects of change? <w:sdt sdttag="goog_rdk_8" id="-275100174"></w:sdt>If you answered yes, you should attend our PDW at AOM 2025 in Copenhagen!

The purpose of the workshop is to discuss how different methodological approaches and methods can be used to "make visible" and investigate relational aspects of organizational change.

This PDW welcomes both walk-in and pre-registered participants.

For the first part of the workshop, our great panelists will provide participants with examples of methodologies for the empirical study of relationships and relating in inter- and intraorganizational change efforts: surveys, video, ethnography, and reflexive narratives.

    The panelists are:

Jody Hoffer Gittell: Relational Coordination Survey and Relational Model of Change to assess the role of relationships in the process of change

Helle Sofie Wentzer: Using video to study virtual mediated relationships in interorganizational collaborations

Francesca Dakin: The power of multi-sited organizational ethnography when studying change

Claus Jebsen: Using thematic analysis on reflexive narratives to study relational aspects of (new) leadership practices.

During the second half of the workshop each panelist and chair will facilitate a discussion regarding a set of methodological questions tied to the practicalities of studying organizational change and using the four methods. Participants (pre-registered as well as walk-ins) will focus on their own research or change processes as they join facilitated small group conversations of their own choice. This part of the PDW will not only allow you to engage in focused methodological discussions, gain valuable feedback on your own project or approach, but it will also provide an opportunity to develop your scholarly network with scholars in organizational change. <w:sdt sdttag="goog_rdk_10" id="-208113346"></w:sdt>

The aim of these discussions is to explore the key question of how to study relational aspects of organizational change from the collective experience of participants, panelists and chairs, and, based on this, to further develop methodology regarding relational aspects of organizational change.

Finally, the lively discussions during the PDW will be summarized by mapping out relevant implications of different methodological choices, enabling the participants to further develop their own methods to study relational aspects of organizational change.

Participants who wish to pre-register must submit an abstract outlining the methodological approach that they would like to present and receive feedback on in group discussions.

Application for pre-registration is made by sending an abstract (max 300 words) to lhajjar@suffolk.edu. <w:sdt sdttag="goog_rdk_12" id="1880898722"></w:sdt>

Deadline for abstract submission is July 1rst 2pm CET.

Successful applicants will be informed by July 14th 2pm CET.

Questions can be directed at Lauren Hajjar lhajjar@suffolk.edu or Ninna Meier meier@socsci.aau.dk
