CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Co-Editor-in-Chief (EAM Appointment)
Organization Management Journal
The Board of Governors of the Eastern Academy of Management (EAM) invites applications and nominations for the position of Co-Editor-in-Chief (Co-EIC) of the Organization Management Journal (OMJ). The appointment is for a three-year term running from 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029, with the possibility of reappointment in accordance with the journal's governing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
OMJ is an open-access, double-anonymous peer-reviewed journal jointly owned and co-sponsored by the Eastern Academy of Management and the Southwest Academy of Management (SWAM), and published by Emerald Publishing Limited. The journal is led by two Co-Editors-in-Chief who share responsibility for its scholarly direction and operations; this call is to fill the position appointed by EAM.
About the Journal
Organization Management Journal is a forum for broad philosophical, social, and practical thought about management and organizing. The journal welcomes work that addresses the interface between theoretical insight and practical application and that enhances the teaching of management. OMJ publishes scholarly empirical and theoretical papers, review articles, essays, and resources for management educators.
Appropriate domains include:
• Organizational behavior
• Business strategy and policy
• Organizational theory
• Human resource management
• Management education, particularly experiential education
All articles are published Open Access under a CC BY 4.0 licence, with no article processing charges to authors. Further information about the journal is available at the journal homepage.

Role of the Co-Editor-in-Chief
The two Co-Editors-in-Chief share responsibility for running the journal and are expected to operate it without undue influence from the EAM or SWAM boards. Working collegially with the co-editor appointed by SWAM, the Co-EIC will:
• Set and uphold the scholarly vision, quality standards, and strategic direction of the journal, consistent with its aims and scope.
• Oversee a rigorous, fair, and timely double-anonymous peer-review process, ensuring authors-including those of rejected manuscripts-have a positive and collegial experience.
• Define the term length, roles, and responsibilities of Associate Editors and Editorial Review Board members, and appoint, train, and oversee their work jointly with the co-editor.
• Make final editorial decisions on manuscripts and ensure ethical standards in line with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
• Work closely with Emerald Publishing on production, the publication schedule, indexing, and use of the manuscript management system.
• Attend the EAM board meetings (or liaise with a designated board contact) to report on journal progress, operations, and opportunities, and engage with the SWAM board as appropriate.
• Ensure the journal is identified accurately on its masthead and promoted within the management scholarship community.
In the rare event the two Co-EICs cannot agree on a journal decision, the more senior editor (by length of tenure in the Co-EIC role) holds the tie-breaking vote. The successful applicant will join the journal alongside the continuing SWAM-appointed Co-EIC.
Eligibility and Qualifications
Applicants must meet the following requirements set out in the OMJ MOU:
• Hold an academic appointment as a tenure-track faculty member at an AACSB- or ACBSP-accredited university. Full-time administrators who hold a faculty rank are eligible.
• Have an established record of scholarship and standing within their academic discipline, with appropriate knowledge of the subject matter of the journal.
The Board also welcomes evidence of the following (best-practice editorial attributes):
• Prior editorial experience-for example, as an Associate Editor, guest editor, or editorial board member of a peer-reviewed journal.
• A strong publication record in peer-reviewed management (or related business) journals.
• Demonstrated commitment to collegiality, ethical publishing, diversity, and developmental support of authors and reviewers.
• Strong organizational, communication, and project-management skills, and the ability to meet production deadlines.
• Capacity to commit the time required and, where relevant, institutional support for the editorial role.
• Active engagement with the EAM and/or wider management scholarship community.
Term, Support, and Conditions
• Term: three years, 1 January 2027 to 31 December 2029. A Co-EIC may serve a maximum of two full consecutive terms for OMJ.
• EAM and SWAM conference registration fees are waived for Co-Editors-in-Chief.
• Any travel expenses or stipends are determined independently by the appointing board; applicants are encouraged to discuss institutional support with their home institution.
• Candidates must disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the EAM Board at the time of nomination or application.
Appointment Process
The appointment will be made by the EAM Board of Governors, in consultation with the SWAM Board and Emerald Publishing. The process is as follows:
1. Applications and nominations are submitted to the EAM Board by the deadline below.
2. The EAM Board reviews candidates and identifies its preferred nominee.
3. In keeping with the MOU, SWAM is given the opportunity to review the nominee and may raise any concerns in writing; the EAM Board retains control of the appointment decision and will respond to any concerns raised.
4. The appointment is confirmed in consultation with Emerald Publishing, and the successful candidate is announced.
