Join Dr. Steve Cady and Dr. Jean Bartunek on Thursday, December 11, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern for the next session of Change 2025:
THE SPIRITS OF OD: HOW ORGANIZATION DEVELOPMENT CONTINUES TO LIVE DESPITE ITS ONCE-PRONOUNCED DEATH
Given the holiday season, this presentation will take a slightly different form than have several of those this semester. It is based on a chapter being revised for the second edition of the Oxford Handbook of Positive Organization Scholarship. It acknowledges three spirits who visited Scrooge one transformative Christmas eve, but focuses on four spirits pertinent to Organization Development any time of year, spirits of organizing, of practice, of scholar-practitioner links, and of paradox. It identifies what these spirits were contributing up to the time of the first edition of the Handbook, and shows how they have evolved, in some ways quite dramatically, since then. The switches in emphases of the four spirits suggest the potential vitality of OD as well as serious challenges it faces.
