  • 1.  Recent / new theories and approaches to organisational change

    Posted 06-13-2014 05:09

I am currently working on a project looking at new theories and approaches to organizational change, and particularly transformational change. Given that some ideas and approaches are captured in books and websites rather than journals making them harder to locate, and that other theories and approaches may have been written about several years ago but are only now gaining traction, I would be interested in hearing from anyone in the ODC community about new approaches and theories to change they have come across or are working on /with.

I am happy to compile the information I get from the community and share it with anyone that emails me something (j.balogun@bath.ac.uk).

Thank you for any help you can offer

    Dear Julia,

Congrats on your initiative. We have written on ODC and its short comings (see attached), hope it will help you see the need for further development of the field

    Best regards

Thank you Julie for sharing your query.  I have wondered recently who may be working in large system or whole system transformation.

Steve Waddell (Golden) is doing some very interesting work in transformative change as applied to large systems.

    Best,

    Cecile

    Hi Julia,

Hope you're doing well.  This sounds very interesting, and I look forward to reading what comes from it.  I have developed a pictoral way of capturing and measuring fluctuations in momentum for long-term change efforts.  It is documented here:

    Jansen, K. J., & Hofmann, D. A. 2011. Mapping momentum fluctuations during organizational change: A multi-study validation.  In W. Pasmore, R. W. Woodman, & R. Shani (Eds.) Research in Organizational Change and Development, Vol. 19, (pp. 163-189).

Nelson, R., & Jansen, K. J. 2009. Mapping and managing momentum in IT projects, MIS Quarterly Executive, 8(3), 141-148.

Hope you find it helpful for your project!
