    Dear Dr. Zimmerman,

I am nearing retirement and expect to leave my full-time position in Chicago by the end of the summer, 2015.  I am interested in continuing to work in academia in a somewhat less active position than the one I now hold.  My current role is Assoc. Chair of the Business Psychology Department, and I oversee our Organizational Leadership PhD program, which I started on ground five years ago.  I am curious about the possibility of an adjunct, on-line role in your program as I'm not sure just where we will go to retire; I'm just sure we won't be staying in Chicago.  I assume that an on-line position is the only option if I am not physically located near your campus, though perhaps a role in the hybrid program is possible if I were to travel in when necessary.  Please let me know if that is possible.  Our Org Leadership PhD is also a hybrid, with on-campus meetings once a month and on-line work in between.

My vitae is attached for your review.  I am a full professor in my current role.  If that is something that would rule me out, I would appreciate an opportunity to discuss it before that decision is made.  My interest in teaching is to teach, not to aggrandize my role, though I am proud to be a full professor. It took many years of teaching, both adjunct and full-time, to achieve that rank.

If you could let me know (1) if my credentials would be acceptable for an adjunct on-line or another role, and (2) a little bit more about your on-line program, I would appreciate.  What I would like to know about the on-line role is class size, length of terms/semesters, expectations of instructors, and nature of students.  I do not like the on-line program at my current school and have no interest in teaching on-line for them, but it is primarily because I do not believe that their practices are the best for their students.  If all on-line programs are alike, then perhaps I am not cut out for on-line.  However, I do not believe that to be the case.  I have talked with other on-line programs that are much more supportive of students and much more interested in their success.

With that sort of intriguing statement, I will stop and just ask you for a little feedback before I complete an application.  Thank you for any information you can provide.

    Connie Fuller
