It is with sadness that I pass along the news that Bill Gellermann died over the summer.
Many of us knew and loved Bill for his deep passion and stubborn commitment to the values and ethics of OD. His seminal work was "A Statement of Values and Ethics by Professionals in OD and HSD." (Gellermann, Frankel, and Landenson. 1990). You can read it in Bob Golembiewski's 2000 book Handbook of Organizational Consultation at:
Bill made ethics in our field work of the final 4 decades of his life, tirelessly consulting and seeking feedback and incorporating it and reshaping it, truly keeping it a living document and an ongoing conversation.
He worked and collaborated with many in our field, including David Jamieson, Bill Rothwell, Roland Sullivan, and Lupita Martinez. He consulted to the United Nations on organizational issues and in leadership development.
Bill was active in the OD Network and the OD Institute, attending conferences and writing book chapters and articles. The attached article from the OD Practitioner in 1990, includes his picture from that time.
There is more of Bill's work at:
Please feel free to pass this along.
