Hello everyone,
I had a very interesting debate recently and was asked "how do you know that what you taught your students is successfully applied in the real-world? What is your measurement tool?"
We were having a discussion about the displeasure with many organizations across the USA with college graduates in that they are not graduating with the right skill sets. Graduates begin working in organizations with degrees from prestigious colleges, but have no idea how to lead, navigate change, or execute strategy. Organizations wonder what the heck they are being taught in graduate school.
Well, I have to say that I struggled a bit with my response and looking to see if anyone else had some insight on this issues. While I am not aware of a tool, measurement, scorecard, etc. that measure these types of skill sets
after
a student graduates. I did respond that students that have successfully learned new knowledge from a program are successful, which can be measured, but requires intensive follow up with alumni.
Thoughts?
