Please join us for a PDW on Post-Merger Integration – discussions on recent cases, reviews of top M&A research and reflections from experts!
Saturday, August 2 from 2:15 to 5:15pm at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Room 107 B

Post-merger integration is a complex and challenging process that has attracted much attention from scholars and practitioners, and bears important consequences for organizational performance. To deepen our understanding of the process, this PDW brings together scholars from diverse sub-disciplines along with executives that manage and live through post-merger integration. The goal of this workshop is to share cutting edge research and teaching and reflect on recent contributions of the field, to gain deeper insight from thoughtful practitioners, and thus bridge scholars from various sub-disciplines and practitioners to advance our understanding of post-merger integration

    MAIN WORKSHOP COMPONENTS
    The PDW has three components:
    1. Case presentations (@ 2:15pm):
This component focuses on real world cases of post-merger integration. Natalia Vuori, Melissa Graebner/Koen Heimeriks, Philippe Monin, and Inger Stensaker will discuss key takeaways from recent cases they have examined closely.  Cases entail a wide variety of countries and industries and as such provide a rich set of illustrations of what post-merger integration means for firms, the executives that run them, and the workforces that undergo acquisitions.  (45 minutes)

    2. Recent scholarly contributions (@ 3:15PM):
This component will review the newest articles on the topic of post-merger integration published or in press in top management journals. Satu Teerikangas, Mario Schijven, Kimberly Ellis, and Taco Reus will review and reflect on the recent contributions in select subthemes and provide a synopsis of the interesting aspects of recent M&A research. (30 minutes)

    3. Expert reflections (@ 4:00pm):
    a. For the third component of the PDW, M&A experts Tomi Laamanen, Eero Vaara, Yaakov Weber will reflect on their vast experience as researchers, reviewers and editors of post-merger integration work, and discuss research trends, opportunities and challenges of the field and provide useful tips for prospective researchers.
    b. Subsequently, Quy Huy will host a discussion with M&A experts Sayan Chatterjee, Mark Sirower, Yaakov Weber to reflect on the cases and compare the key takeaways with their own massive experience. (60 minutes)

Hope to see you in Philly!
