Hello,
I just joined the list a week ago, and this is my first post.
About me: My undergraduate degree was in sociocultural anthropology. I worked for public health in Washington State for a number of years before returning to school to earn an MA in Organizational Psychology a few years ago. Did a little OD teaching at my alma mater, but continued to work on public health research projects as well.
I'd love to hear from list members on the following:
I'm currently working with two MD, MPH university researchers on a project regarding health promotion in small organizations (20-99 employees). They are familiar with social psychology theories of individual change, and with E. Rogers' Diffusion of Innovations. My question is: What top 3-5 broad theories and principles about organizational change (or as it was put to me: "Why organizations change and how you can get them to change") would you recommend to them, if you were in my shoes?
They are looking for strong, overarching theories to guide their thoughts as change agents, as they plan how to help employers implement, communicate, and sustain change in the form of health promotion activities in small organizations. I certainly have a number of ideas, but I thought it would be stimulating and interesting to hear the views of list members.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
Kind regards,
